More than 100 years ago, car manufacturing changed very fast. In early Ford production, workers did not always build one full part alone. Instead, the work moved from one person to the next. One worker did a small job, and then another worker continued it. This made production much faster.
As cars became more common, more customers needed service and repair. Garages had to inspect cars, describe problems, write reports, and return cars more efficiently. Step by step, car service became more organized too.
