Reading: A Good Day With Bad Service

Last summer, Mira went to another city with her friend. The morning was bright and warm. They walked near the river, took many photos, listened to music and bought cold lemonade. Mira felt relaxed. She was not in a hurry. Her best moment was simple: she sat on a bench, looked at the water and laughed with her friend.

In the afternoon they went to a small cafe. The cafe was crowded. There were many people, and only one waiter worked in the room. Mira ordered chicken soup and green tea. Her friend ordered pasta. They waited for a long time. Then the waiter brought fish soup and coffee. Mira was angry for one minute. She wanted to say, “This is terrible service!”

Then Mira looked around. The waiter was very tired. One customer was shouting. A child was crying. The weather was hot, and everybody wanted cold drinks. Mira took a breath and spoke calmly: “Excuse me, I think there is a mistake. I ordered chicken soup and green tea.”

The waiter said sorry and changed the order. The lunch was late, but the problem was solved. In the evening Mira wrote: good service is not only fast service. It is also calm words, polite questions and solving problems.
