Lesson: “Sam gets 3 jobs in the warehouse”
1) Story
Sam is a trainee in a distribution center (warehouse). Today is busy: three shipments must be prepared and sent to customers. Sam must inspect the cargo, describe the condition, choose a safe decision, and choose the correct first action.
Before work starts, the shift supervisor says:
“Follow the rules. If something is dangerous, stop and report it.
If something is urgent, still check it first.
Scan everything. Labels must be correct.”
Sam checks the warehouse tablet. He sees three job cards.
Job list (Sam’s tablet)
Job A — “Chilled food pallet”

Customer: FreshMart (local supermarket)
Delivery time: Today, 16:00 (urgent)
Cargo: 1 pallet of yogurt cups (12 boxes)
Storage requirement: keep cold (2–6°C)
Condition (Sam’s quick look): pallet is wrapped, boxes look clean
Note on tablet: “Fast service today — customer complains if late.”
Text: short message from the dispatcher
“Truck is coming earlier than planned. Please prepare it now.
Check the temperature sticker on the pallet.
If temperature is too high, do not load.”
Job B — “Electronics cartons (batteries inside)”

Customer: TechShop
Delivery time: Tomorrow morning
Cargo: 6 cartons of laptops (each carton = fragile)
Important detail: lithium batteries inside
Condition (Sam’s quick look): cartons are closed, but one carton has a torn corner
Note on tablet: “Battery shipment = safety rules + correct labels.”
Text: safety note on the warehouse wall
“Lithium battery shipments must have correct labels.
Damaged cartons must be repacked before shipping.
Do not place heavy cargo on top.”
Job C — “Chemical drum (possible leak)”

Customer: CleanPro (cleaning supplier)
Delivery time: No exact time (but must be documented)
Cargo: 1 plastic drum (25 liters) marked “Cleaning liquid”
Condition (Sam’s quick look): drum is wet outside, the pallet under it is wet too
Sam smells something strong. The shrink wrap is loose.
Note on tablet: “If leaking → stop and report. Use spill kit.”
Text: short incident report template (from the tablet)
“If you see leakage:
Stop moving cargo
Mark the area
Inform supervisor
Isolate cargo (quarantine zone)
Write a short report”
Sam must decide what to do first for each job.
